2019 EYOF: strong performances in the all-around final

The all-around finals took place today at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku. Three Belgian gymnasts competed today. Recap.



Victor Martinez and Nicola Cuyle took the stage first. Victor had an excellent start on vault, scoring 13.950.  Nicola started his competition with a 12.550 on still rings. Victor then moved to parallel bars where he showed a good routine that was rewarded with a 13.300. Nicola went to vault where he scored 13.600.

In the third rotation Victor competed on high bar and scored 12.500, Nicola received 13.250 for his routine on parallel bars. Nicola moved on to the high bar then where he scored 12.200 while Victor was on floor and got rewarded with 12.500.

In the fifth rotation Victor competed on the pommel horse and Nicola on floor. Nicola showed a strong routine that scored 13.150. Victor received a 12.100 from the judges. In the final rotation Victor made an error on still rings and scored 12.350. Nicola finished strong on pommel horse with a score of 12.950.

Nicola Cuyle finished 10th with a score of 77.300. Victor Martinez ended 12th with 76.700.

Illia Kovtun from Ukraine won the gold medal (82.000). The Russians Ivan Kuliak (81.100) and Mukhammadzhon Iakubov (80.550) completed the podium.

Jutta Verkest started her all-round final on beam. Just like yesterday she couldn't avoid a fall (11.350) She came back strong on floor with a score of 12.650 despite going out of bounds on her double pike.

On vault she performed a layout Yurchenko (12.550). She finished her competition with an excellent routine on uneven bars. She scored 13.200, her personal best.

Jutta Verkest finished on the 14th place in her all-round final with a total score of 49.750. The Junior World Champion Viktoriia Listunova from Russia won the gold medal with 56.000. Ondine Achampong from Great-Britain won the silver (52.950) and Russian Iana Vorona was third (52.550).
