2022 European Championships : Women's preview

From 11th to 14th of August, Munich (Germany) will host the Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships for both Juniors and Seniors gymnasts. Belgium is sending 10 gymnasts.

The junior team is composed of Eva Bruynseels, Hanne Degryse, Naomi Descamps, Yelena Devreker and Aberdeen O'Driscoll. Eva, Yelena and Hanne recently competed at the European Youth Olympic Festival, where they placed 16th as a team. It's the first major event for Descamps and O'Driscoll.

Belgium chose to send an experienced seniors team, with Maellyse Brassart, Fien Enghels, Noémie Louon, Lisa Vaelen and Jutta Verkest (basically the Olympic team minus Nina Derwael and with the alternates). These European Championships serve as a qualifier for the upcoming World Championships in Liverpool. To qualify for Worlds, the girls have to finish in the top 13, an accessible goal. They aim for a top 5 finish and multiple individual finals. The battle for the team medals should be between Italy, Great Britain and France !

  • August 11th - 10:00-20:00 : Seniors qualifications and all-around final (Belgium subdivision 4)
  • August 12th - 12:20-20:00 : Juniors event finals qualifications and team and all-around finals (Belgium subdivision 3)
