DTB-Pokal Team Challenge: first real test for our Men's team

This weekend, Stuggart hosted countries from all around the World for both the DTB-Pokal Team Challenge and the Stuttgart World Cup! Belgium sent two teams as a preparation for the Olympic Test Event that will be held next month in Rio. Here are the results!

The Road to Rio continues for both our National Teams. The 2016 DTB-Pokal Team Challenge was the first real test for Belgium Men's team but it was also a decisive competition for three Belgian gymnasts: at the end of the qualification round, the first three Belgian gymnasts in the all-around would automatically qualify for the Test Event team. And those spots were assigned to Jimmy Verbaeys (Blauwput Omnisport), Maxime Gentges (Gym Club Malmédy) and Daan Kenis (Turnclub De Eik Lommel).

As a team, along with Bram Louwije (Turnkring Vlamertinge), they ranked 10th in qualification, with 251.150. Gilles Gentges (Gym Club Malmédy), Thibault Hoffreumon (La Courtoise), Jonas Baert (Turnkring Kerels Waasmunster vzw) and Luka Van den Keybus (Gymteam Sint-Niklaas) composed the second team. They ranked 16th (234.000).

There were good and less good things, with some falls here and there, but this competition was the first out of three for the Men's gymnasts. The last three spot for the Test Event, as well as the alternate spot, will be assigned around April 8th, after the last two tests that will take place in Malmédy on March 29th and April 6th.
