EC 2018: 12th place as a team and two individual finals for the Seniors!

After the amazing performances from our girls last week, our male's teams are taking over at the European Championships in Glasgow ! Last night, the Seniors were on for their qualifications.

The team, composed of Dennis Goossens, Jonathan Vrolix, Luka Van den Keybus, Noah Kuavita and Maxime Gentges, placed 12th and will therefore not advance to the team final, as only the top 8 teams qualify.

Individually, Dennis Goossens qualified for the rings final, with a score of 14.766 and the 5th best score. Noah Kuavita will be in the horizontal bar, with his amazing routine that earned him 14.033 and the 4th place. Finally, Jonathan Vrolix came really close of qualifying for the floor final. With 14.100, he placed 10th and is the first reserve for the final.

The team started well on vault, with Luka getting 13.566 for his double twisting Yurchenko. Jonathan also had a good vault for 13.766. But it's Noah who stole the show with a powerful front handspring double front (14.400).

On parallel bars, Noah once again got the highest score for team Belgium, with a 13.533, followed by Luka and Maxime, both scoring 13.333. On horizontal bar, Maxime unfortunately fell on his Tkatchev release (12.033). No problem for Luka (12.900), while Noah performed a packed routine to get 14.033 and a ticket for the final on Sunday !

On floor, Luka had some mistakes and got a 11.866, while Maxime came back strong from his high bar fall to get 13.333. Jonathan was the best of the three, getting a 14.100 and a 10th place finish. He'll be the first reserve for the floor final on Sunday.

Pommel horse has always been tricky for Belgium. Jonathan and Noah did their jobs, getting 12.800 and 12.600. Maxime had high expectations coming to pommel horse, his best event. But a fall at the beginning of his routine and a mistake on the dismount only got him a 12.200.

The team finished strong on rings, where Jonathan got 12.633 and Maxime 13.333. Dennis Goossens then easily qualified for the rings final with a 14.766 and the 5th best score among the qualifiers.
