2021 Europeans: All you need to know

On wednesday the 2021 Artistic Gymnastics European Championships start in Basel, Switzerland. 268 gymnasts of 38 countries will fight for the medals behind closed doors. 9 of them are Belgians. 



Margaux Daveloose, Fien Enghels, Noémie Louon and Jutta Verkest will defend the Belgian colours on the women's side. Their qualifications will be held on Wednesday. They will try to qualify for the individual finals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

24 athletes, with a maximum of 2 per country will advance to the all-around final on Friday. The apparatus finals will line up the 8 best gymnasts, with a maximum of 2 per country.

Margaux and Jutta will compete in the first of 4 subdivisions. Noémie and Fien will take the stage in the third of 4 subdivisions.

On the men's side Maxime GentgesNoah KuavitaFlorian LanduytTakumi Onoshima and Luka Van den Keybus will represent Team Belgium. Their qualifications will be held on Thursday. They will also try to advance to the finals.

Maxime and Luka will compete on all 6 apparatuses. Noah will do high bar, Florian will be on pommel horse, floor, vault and parallel bars and Takumi will compete on floor and pommel horse. The Belgian men will compete in the second and third subdivision.

The finals will be livestreamed on Eurovision Sports. VRT will also broadcast the finals on Sporza and Eén. Live scores can be found here.

These European Championships are also the last chance for some countries to get an additional olympic spot. The first two gymnasts in the all-around in qualifications that were not part of a qualifying team at Worlds will get a spot for their countries.
