2024 European Championships: Qualifications seniors: 10th place all-around and Olympic qualification for Maellyse Brassart.

Today the Belgian team competed at the qualifications of the European championships. These qualifications were also the competition for the last qualification spot for the Paris olympic Games. Maellyse Brassart took the lead after the first subdivision and won the battle.

Team Belgym started it's competition on vault where Erika Pinxten, Jade Vansteenkiste and Maellyse Brassart all showed full twisting yourchenko's. Erika scored 12.866, Jade landed with both feet out of bounds and scored 12.700 and Maellyse landed on the line and scored 13.100. Mika Webster-Longin performed a yourchenko with one and a half twist but fell. Her score of 12.133 was not taken into account for the team total. 

On bars Jade started with a stable and pretty clean routine that scored 12.400. Erika threw a huge katchev. Unfortunately she made an error on her giant with full turn and lost momentum on her full-in dismount. She stumbled out of it and scored 11.266. Nina Derwael started her big comeback routine in an excellent way with very clean work. She came a bit short on her stalder with full turn and fell. She scored 12.533. Pressure was on for Maellyse. She was happy with her clean performance that added 13.533 to the team total.

On beam Nina opened the games for Team Belgium. She showed clean and stable work on all elements but her double wolf turn. She fell and scored 12.833. Erika performed a pretty solid routine which included a side arial to lay-out combination and also scored 12.833. Maellyse added a solid 12.933 to her all-around and to the team total. She opened with a great switch leap mount. Jade's score of 10.800 was dropped. She mounted with a front summersault, was a bit wobbly throughout and fell on her side summersault. 

Erika started the floor rotation with a stable routine that included a double piked summersault and a two and a half twist. She scored 12.400, the highest score for the team on floor. Maellyse landed her opening double piked with one foot out of bounds and scored 12.366. Mika opened with a good two and a half twist connected to a front tucked summersault and a nice double twisting front lay-out. Unfortunately she fell on her double piked and scored 11.233. Jade showed a clean one and a half twist to full front twist but fell on her double twist backwards. Her score of 10.966 was dropped.


The Belgian team's total of 151.730 put them in the 9th place, just out of the Team final. Italy dominated the team qualifications unless losing Asia D'Amato during the floor exercise.  Great-Britain finished second and France third. 

Maellyse scored 51.932 and won the Olympic qualification spot. The Italian girls dominated the all-around qualification too. Manilla Esposito won the all-around final, her teammate Alice D'Amato was second. Great-Britains Alice Kinsella won the bronze medal.
