2024 Junior European championships: Bronze medal and 4 finals for Team Belgium

Today the junior gymnasts had their team and all-around competition.  The Belgian junior team had a splendid competition and won the bronze medal. They also qualified for 4 individual apparatus finals.

Sien Ghekiere started the competition for Team Belgium with an elegant floor routine that scored 11.733. Silke Hoste was rewarded with 11.866, just a tiny bit better then Louise Dupont who scored 11.833 for her routine that included a double piked summersault that caused her some trouble upon reception. Liese Vieuxtemps opened with a skyhigh double tucked and added 12.466 tot the team total. She qualified for the floor final on sunday.

On vault Liese sat down her handspring piked front. The three other gymnasts all showed full twisting yourchenko's. Katie Baert received the highest score for hers: a 12.966. Louise got rewarded with 12.800 and Sien scored 12.700. 

The Belgian juniors had a solid rotation on uneven bars. Sien received the highest score for the team with a 12.566 for her routine that included a paksalto, a shapo and a stalder full to a stuck double tucked dismount. She qualifies in 6th place for the uneven bars final.  Katie scored 11.800 and Louise 11.766 for pretty similar decent routines. Silke scored 11.566 for a good routine with a simple layout dismount. 

Moving on to their last apparatus they did even better. Liese mounted with a tucked summersault and showed a solid routine that scored 12.666. Louise also showed confident and stable work and added 12.700 to the team total. Silke fell twice quite early in her routine but recovered well from a pretty scary fall on her acrobatic serie. Sien ended the competition for team Belgium with another solid beam routine. She mounted with an impressive acrobatic serie. She was rewarded with 12.533. Both Louise and Liese are qualified for the balance beam final. 

Sien Ghekieres all-around total of 49.532 put her in 7th place in the offical All-around ranking, limited to two gymnasts per country.  Louise Dupont ended 8th with 49.099. French Elena Colas won the gold medal. Italy's Giulia Perotti won the silver. Maiana Prat from France took the bronze medal.

The Belgian team total of 148.662 put them in a splendid third place. France won the gold and Italy won the silver.
