Gold for Team Belgium at Flanders International Team Challenge!

The Flanders International Team Challenge concluded today with the Team Final.  Today the Juniors and Seniors gymnasts competed together for the medals.  Team Belgium won this third edition of the Flanders International Team Challenge.

The Belgian team consisted of Seniors Maellyse Brassart, Margaux Daveloose, Senna Deriks, Nina Derwael and Jade Vansteenkiste. They joined forces with the Juniors Stacy Bertrandt, Keziah Langendock, Noémie Louon, Lisa Vaelen and Jutta Verkest. 

They started their competition on vault where both Jade and Maellyse score 13.566 for their full twisting Yurchenko's. Stacy and Lisa added a 13.300 and a 13.266 to the team total.


On uneven bars Nina impressed the crowd and the judges with her upgraded routine. She scored 15.233 and gave the Belgian team a valuable advantage. The other girls also delivered solid routines. Noémie was the best of the rest with 12.833, Senna scored 12.266 despite a fall and Stacy got 12.166. 

On beam Noémie opened the rotation with a rock solid routine that scored 13.333. Maellyse got 13.133 and Margaux 12.166. Jutta had to count a fall but gained important experience for future competitions.

Kéziah was the first Belgian gymnast to compete in the final rotation. She showed a playfull choreography and solid tumbling (12.633). Lisa and Margaux both competed confidently and scored 12.466 and 12.666. Jade was the final gymnast on floor. She brought the jungle to Ghent and received 13.133, the highest score for Team Belgium on floor.

Team Belgium won the gold medal with a total of 207. 425. Romania won the silver with 205.827 and a mixed team of Australian Seniors and Italian Juniors took the bronze with 204.328.
