2023 European Championships: All you need to know.

On tuesday april 11th the European championships 2023 start in Antalya, Türkiye. 39 federations are set to compete at this continental qualifying competition for the 2023 World championships in Antwerp. The Baloise team Belgym is represented by Maellyse Brassart, Fien Enghels, Aberdeen O'Driscoll, Lisa Vaelen and Jutta Verkest on the women's side and by Maxime Gentges, Noah Kuavita, Victor Martinez, Takumi Onoshima and Luka Vanden Keybus on the men's side. Glenn Cuyle will compete as an individual gymnast. 




Tuesday the men will complete their qualifications. The Belgian men will compete in the second of three subdivisions. Their competitions starts at 13:00 Belgian time. They will start their competition on parallel bars. A men's Team consists of 3 - 5 gymnasts, of which up to 4 compete on each apparatus. The 3 best scores are added to the team total. 

On wednesday the ladies take the floor for their qualifying competition. The Belgian team will compete in the second of 4 subdivisions. They will compete alongside the Romanian team and start their competition on vault. The competitions starts at 12:30 Belgian time. Each country can enter 5 gymnasts of which 4 compete on each apparatus. The 3 best scores make the team total. 

The main goal for both teams is to qualify for the World championships in Antwerp. This should normally  not be an issue. The womens's team hopes to repeat it's 5th place from Munich 2022. Individually the gymnasts aim to qualify for as many individual finals as possible. The 24 gymnasts with the highest ranking obtained in the qualifying competition will qualify for the Individual All Around Final with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per country. 

The 8 highest ranked gymnasts in the qualifying competition per apparatus advance to the Apparatus Finals, with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per country / final.

 How to follow the competition?

European gymnastics will provide a livestream of the entire competition. For the qualifications there will be a live streaming on gymtv.online. Special thanks to SmartScoring for this service. You will need to register to see the stream but it is a free streaming. Don't click any of the links that might appear on social media. Only trust the one that will be made available by European gymnastics.
